Caring Ministries

“We give care, and we receive care…sometimes at the same time.”

When Jesus said to his followers, “Love one another” (John 13:34), he wanted them to take care of each other. This is one of our most elemental commitments as a church. We make a serious promise to walk with each other, celebrating the joys and sympathizing with the sorrows we meet along the way.

Ministering to the needs of our church family, our Parish Care Ministry extends Christ’s hand of love and service through our Meals, Small Chores, Birth and Baptism, Card Writing & Telephone, and Friendly Visitors Ministries.  A phone call to the church office (203-272-5323) activates a chain of caring to our ministry coordinators and volunteers. We can extend that hand further and deeper with your help. To see how you can share your time (no matter how limited) and your abilities (no special requirements), please contact the church office.

Parish Care Coordinators

This group meets for fellowship, to work on whatever projects they are making—such as Prayer Shawls and Baby Blankets. Come and be prepared to meet some wonderful ladies, who will be happy to help you learn how to knit or crochet, if you don’t already know how. You don’t have to be making anything to join us, just come and share in the lively conversations. We also offer patterns for prayer shawls and baby blankets if needed.

Stephen Ministers provide strictly confidential, weekly, one-on-one Christ-centered care and support for those needing help to make it through a crisis. Stephen Ministers care for people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including but not limited to grief, divorce, job loss, illness, loneliness, hospitalization, relocation or spiritual crisis. Men are matched with men, women with women. The caring relationship lasts for as long as the person needs this level of care. Stephen Ministers are not lone rangers. They participate with their Stephen Leaders in twice-monthly peer group supervision where they receive guidance, support and continuing education to maintain high-quality care and enhance their skills as care givers. Please contact Frank for more information.
