Please join Alchemy, and Music Director Joe D’Eugenio,
on Saturday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m. in our Sanctuary
for a beautiful concert of choral music.
Alchemy, the region’s newest vocal chamber ensemble, celebrates its first full season with a series of concerts across Connecticut. The ensemble, known for its ability to adapt its sound to a broad variety of repertoire, took the name “Alchemy” in recognition of the ancient, mystical art of creating gold through transformation and refinement. Already recognized for their vocal beauty, richness, and subtlety, this 24-voice ensemble brings a touch of gold to interpretations of Romantic and contemporary choral music. The concert program showcases Alchemy’s versatility and artistry with a cappella and accompanied choral music by Schumann, Brahms, Bruckner, Duruflé, Britten, Vaughan Williams, Mulholland, Thompson, and Clausen. Pianist Allan Conway accompanies.
While the concert is free, there will be a free-will offering taken to support Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, which was founded by Michael Kamen, the composer of the motion picture that shares the same name. This foundation began in 1996 and is committed to supporting the future of music education in our local schools.
